A Photographer and Correspondent’s Perspective
As a photographer and correspondent, I pay attention to the gestures that accompany public events. A glance, a pause, or a step back can become the focus of a report. After his defeat he declined to shake hands. His stated reason for the decision prompted discussion. My role is to document the moment, distinguish observation from interpretation, and provide context. A photograph captures a fraction of a second; responsible reporting helps readers understand what happened before and after that frame.
