I am Neha Jabbar, a Penetration Tester and active Bug Bounty Hunter. I am currently pursuing my degree in Cybersecurity at Iqra University. My journey into cybersecurity began as a shift from my initial interest in medicine. I was a medical student until intermediate class, but I discovered my true passion for cybersecurity through hands-on experiences on TryHackMe. The challenge of solving real-world security problems and the thrill of ethical hacking sparked my interest in the field.
Building Knowledge through TryHackMe
As I continued exploring TryHackMe, I dove into several rooms that allowed me to build my knowledge and skills in cybersecurity.
Introduction to Cybersecurity Through UIT University
Before formally starting my degree in Cybersecurity at Iqra University, I decided to further build on this interest. I took a course from UIT University, which provided me with an introduction to the field. That course deepened my understanding and solidified my decision to fully commit to cybersecurity.
Pursuing Certifications & Courses
Along the way, I pursued certifications to enhance my skills. I completed Foundations of Cybersecurity by Google, Intro to Splunk by Splunk, and Play It Safe: Manage Security Risks by Google, which gave me insights into risk management, incident response, and threat management. I also earned recognition as a SOC Member and Web Attack Investigator through LetsDefend.
Additionally, I took specialized courses from TCM (The Cyber Mentor), where I deepened my penetration testing skills. The knowledge gained from these courses has been invaluable in my professional journey, and many more resources and experiences are helping me grow each day.
Hands-On Learning & Advent of Cyber 2024
I also completed Advent of Cyber 2024 on TryHackMe, which further helped me expand my practical knowledge and hands-on skills in cybersecurity.
Bug Bounty Programs & Real-World Experience
My cybersecurity journey truly took off when I got involved in bug bounty programs like Bugcrowd and HackerOne, where I identified and addressed vulnerabilities in real-world systems. These experiences earned me recognition from companies like Lenovo for my contributions to improving their security. I have learned from every corner of the field — through hands-on practice, exploring new resources, and constantly learning from different platforms every day.
