Network Upgrade Anti-Patterns Engineers See Repeatedly

One common anti-pattern is upgrading components in isolation. Faster NICs without matching switches, or new switches with legacy uplinks, simply relocate bottlenecks.

Another issue is ignoring switch backplane and uplink aggregation. A β€œ2.5G switch” with constrained internal bandwidth delivers inconsistent results under load.

Treat upgrades as system-level changes, not shopping lists.
