Most people in Germany overpay for mobile plans. If you're paying more than 15 euros a month for a SIM-only plan, you're probably getting ripped off.

Here's what I learned from the data:
5-10 GB for 7-12 euros is normal in 2026. If you're paying 30+ euros for the same, you're on an old contract that auto-renewed.
The biggest scam is the automatic renewal. Your 24-month contract ends, and instead of switching to a cheaper month-to-month plan, it auto-renews for another 24 months at the same price. Legal, but shady.
The fix: set a calendar reminder for 3 months before your contract ends. Cancel in writing. Then get a new plan.
Almost all providers offer cashback bonuses for new customers (50-200 euros). But you have to actively claim them, usually by filling out a form 12-24 months into the new contract. Most people forget and lose the money.
Rufnummernmitnahme (keeping your phone number) gets you an extra 25-50 euros bonus from most providers. Say it when you sign up, not after.
