Hello Nick , thank you for the valuable info , a question for someone starting automation like me , should I go for REST or gNMI since its gaining a lot gf moentum these days in Infrastructure .

I'd say start with REST for now. gNMI is gaining traction, but you'll always find application for RESTful API skills outside of the networking world. In the long run, it's like YAML vs JSON vs XML - you will have to learn them all.
