Hi. New to this forum. Soooo. I develop applications in 4D(4d.com) have done since forever. I am currently journaling ways to take legacy applications in 4D and modernise them whilst maintaining them as working systems. The idea is to help other programmers on a journey and document WHY good coding practice will make changes in the future iterations of system NOT cause you to throw your code out and start all over again. I am hoping to tap into wisdom from developers in other realms to create better working practices that translate across the language your are developing in. For anyone who has come across 4D and thought uh..this don't look like the code i am used to in .net/javascript/C++ etc.. yep the language is different but it is also changing..with ORDA the code is object orientated, forms can be delivered as objects, alterations to the dev environment make it better for teams and implementation of native IOS and Android apps taking to 4D systems is incorporated into the dev environment..so i think its not dead..but a lot of the programmers like me are not at the beginning of their own development cycle.
