🕹️ Nostalgia meets Rust!
I completely rebuilt the original Angry Birds 1.2.0 (2010) for Windows from scratch!
After weeks of reverse-engineering and learning, the project is finally fully playable. I wanted to see how a classic physics-based mobile game would perform when rewritten in a modern systems language like Rust.
🚀 Key Technical Features:
-
Physics Engine: Powered by
Rapier2Dwith a strict fixed 60Hz timestep (meaning towers will never randomly collapse due to frame drops!). -
Asset Preservation: Extracted all original sprite sheets, PVR/PNG textures, bitmap fonts, and audio tracks directly from the original
1.2.0.ipaarchive. - Content Complete: All 105 original levels across 5 classic chapters (Poached Eggs, Mighty Hoax, Danger Above, The Big Setup, Ham 'Em High) are fully playable.
- Modern QoL: Added height-fit framing, free zoom out to 0.25x, and manual camera panning.
This is an unofficial fan project made purely for educational and game preservation purposes.
