I agree with most of this. However, when it comes to discord I must disagree with using the webapp version. The desktop version uses their propietary audio drivers which afaik aren't available on the webapp version. The audio quality is much better on the desktop app and I am a heavy user of Discord. Other than that, agreed, using the other apps in a web browser is probably the way to go.

I personally use Franz for everything else (Mail, Slack, WhatsApp, Telegram, GroupMe, and Messenger) and it's great. Condenses everything and only run at about 500-600MB of RAM usage with all those added. There's plenty of other similar options available as well.

True, Discord on desktop is bundled with third-party libraries for better audio and other stuff. I mostly open the web version because I only use it for text chats, but when initiating group voice chats, I switch over to the desktop app. Thanks for the heads up, just updated the post for clarification. 😄
