Did You Know? Prometheus Doesn’t Support Built-In Data Deletion!

One surprising fact about Prometheus is that it doesn't support manual deletion of specific data points or time-series from its database. Once data is stored, it remains until it’s automatically deleted based on the retention settings (e.g.,storage.tsdb.retention.time). While this may seem like a limitation, it's by design to ensure immutable and reliable metric storage.

If you need more control over data management, external solutions like Thanos or Cortex can be used to handle long-term storage and advanced data operations, making Prometheus part of a more scalable system!
