A free Planning Poker tool with session metrics

Most Planning Poker tools stop at the vote.

You estimate a ticket, reveal the cards, agree on a number, and move on. After the session ends, there’s usually nothing left except the final estimate.

After running quite a few estimation meetings, that always felt like a missing piece to me. I often wanted to look back and understand how the session actually went.

Did we spend too long on a single issue?
Were estimates very far apart before discussion?
Do we tend to agree quickly or debate a lot?

So I built Planela.

It’s a free Planning Poker app with no limitations, but the main difference compared to other tools is that it includes session metrics.

Simple Planning Poker sessions

The core experience is intentionally straightforward.

You create a session, prepare the backlog, share the link and your team joins. Everyone votes independently and the cards are revealed together. The focus stays on the issue being estimated so the discussion stays about the work itself.

Metrics after the session

After a session finishes, Planela shows a breakdown of what happened during the meeting.

You can see things like:

  • Time spent per issue
  • Estimate distribution
  • Where the biggest disagreements happened
  • Overall agreement levels
  • Fastest/slowest voter
  • Most/least optimistic voter

It’s a simple way to reflect on estimation sessions and sometimes spot patterns that would otherwise be invisible.

Other features

A few other things the tool supports:

  • Story points and T-shirt sizing
  • Quick join via link
  • Password-free login with magic links
  • Anonymous users
  • Importing issues from Jira or CSV file (More integrations will follow)
  • Fully responsive UI (works on mobile as well)

Free to use

Planela is currently completely free with no limits.

No restrictions on players, sessions, or features.
