PUBLISH_GUIDE.md — SEO Articles Publishing Playbook

All 5 articles are ready to paste. This guide covers account setup, exact publishing steps, tag selection, and bio optimisation for each platform.

Article 1 & 4 — Dev.to

Articles:

  • article-1-ollama-mac-mini.md → "How to Run Ollama on Mac Mini"
  • article-4-local-ai-solopreneurs.md → "Best Local AI Tools for Solopreneurs"

Account Creation

  • Go to: https://dev.to/enter
  • Sign up with GitHub (recommended — faster, more credibility)
  • No phone number required

Publishing Steps

  1. Click "Create Post" (top nav, pencil icon)
  2. The editor accepts Markdown. Paste the article content directly.
  3. The frontmatter at the top of each file (---title, tags, canonical_url---) is automatically parsed by Dev.to's editor — leave it in
  4. For canonical_url: if you have your own blog, put that URL here. If not, leave it blank.
  5. Add a cover image — use Unsplash (unsplash.com, search "mac mini" or "artificial intelligence"), download, upload in Dev.to's cover image field
  6. Click "Save draft" first, preview it, then "Publish"

Tags (Enter Exactly)

  • Article 1: ollama, macos, ai, homelab, n8n
  • Article 4: ai, productivity, tools, solopreneur, ollama

Article 2 & 5 — Medium

Articles:

  • article-2-personal-ai-agent.md → "Personal AI Agent Setup Guide 2025"
  • article-5-automate-email-ai.md → "How to Automate Email with AI Agent"

Account Creation

  • Go to: https://medium.com/m/signin
  • Sign up with Google (fastest)
  • No Medium Partner Program needed to publish — skip that prompt for now

Publishing Steps

  1. Click your profile icon → "Write"
  2. Paste the article content into the editor (Medium uses rich text, not raw markdown)
  3. Important: Medium's editor doesn't parse frontmatter — delete the --- YAML block at the top if any is present (Article 2 and 5 don't have frontmatter, so you're fine)
  4. Headings: Type # at the start of a line, Medium auto-formats it as H1/H2
  5. Code blocks: Highlight code text → click <> in the toolbar
  6. Add tags (Medium calls them "Topics") — up to 5:
    • Article 2: Artificial Intelligence, Productivity, Technology, Home Automation, Self Improvement
    • Article 5: Email, Productivity, Artificial Intelligence, Automation, Technology
  7. Add a subtitle (Medium feature, shows under the title in feeds):
    • Article 2: "Ollama + n8n running locally, no cloud subscriptions, no coding required"
    • Article 5: "A practical walkthrough of the triage and drafting system I built with Ollama and n8n"
  8. Upload a cover image (same Unsplash approach — search "automation" or "inbox")
  9. Click "Publish" → set to "Anyone can read" → Publish

Publishing Order & Timing

For best SEO impact, don't publish everything on the same day. Spread it:

Day Article Platform
Day 1 Article 3 (n8n Ollama workflow) Hashnode
Day 3 Article 1 (Ollama Mac Mini) Dev.to
Day 5 Article 2 (Personal AI Agent) Medium
Day 8 Article 4 (Local AI solopreneurs) Dev.to
Day 10 Article 5 (Automate Email) Medium

Reason: Spacing signals organic publishing cadence to Google. Same-day bulk publishing can look like spam and may suppress initial indexing.

Cross-Platform Distribution Tips

After each article goes live:

  1. Share on Reddit — find the most relevant subreddit:

    • Article 1 (Ollama/Mac Mini): r/ollama, r/macmini, r/LocalLLaMA
    • Article 2 (Personal AI Agent): r/selfhosted, r/homeautomation, r/LocalLLaMA
    • Article 3 (n8n Ollama): r/n8n, r/selfhosted, r/automation
    • Article 4 (Solopreneur AI Tools): r/solopreneur, r/EntrepreneurRideAlong, r/selfhosted
    • Article 5 (Email automation): r/productivity, r/Entrepreneur, r/selfhosted
    • Format: Share the published URL with a genuine title. Don't just dump the link — write 2-3 sentences about what you built and why.
  2. Add a comment to relevant Hacker News threads — search news.ycombinator.com for "ollama" or "n8n" — if there's an active thread, add your article as a resource. Don't create "Show HN" posts for these; they work better as comments in existing discussions.

  3. Inbound links speed up indexing — even one Reddit post linking to your article tells Google the content exists. Without any inbound links, new articles can take 2-6 weeks to appear in search results.

Monitoring (Optional)

Once articles are live, add them to Google Search Console (search.google.com/search-console) to track:

  • When Google indexed each page
  • Which keywords they're appearing for
  • Click-through rate by keyword

Free to use. Just verify ownership by adding a meta tag to each platform's profile settings — Dev.to, Medium, and Hashnode all support Google Search Console verification codes.

Future Article Ideas (Based on These Keywords)

If these articles perform well, these are natural follow-ons to write:

  • "How to run Llama 3 locally on Windows" (high volume keyword)
  • "n8n self-hosted setup guide 2025"
  • "Ollama vs LM Studio: which is better for local AI"
  • "How to build a RAG system with Anything LLM"
  • "Home server setup for AI: Mac Mini vs Raspberry Pi 5"
