Kredence: Decentralized IP Protection for Creators (Hacktoberfest 2026)

This is a submission for the Hacktoberfest Weekend Challenge: Build for a Friend

What I Built

Kredence is a decentralized, on-chain protocol built on Solana that protects digital creators by establishing immutable proof of originality, providing trustless licensing mechanisms, and maintaining a community-governed dispute resolution system. I built it for a digital artist friend who frequently had their art stolen and reposted without credit. Kredence solves this by using a Commit-Reveal scheme combined with Compressed NFTs (cNFTs) to provide verifiable receipts and a dispute system.

How I Built It

Kredence is built on the Solana blockchain:

  • Frontend: Next.js 15, React 19, TailwindCSS v4, Web3.js
  • Smart Contract: Solana, Anchor Framework, Rust
  • Infrastructure: Metaplex Bubblegum (cNFTs) for state rent optimization, SPL Account Compression, Token-2022, and Pinata (IPFS) for decentralized storage.
  • In-Browser Hashing: A unique SHA-256 fingerprint of the image is generated locally before it hits the chain.

Why Does Open Innovation Matter?

Open innovation matters because creators need systems they can trust. Centralized platforms can fake timestamps, manipulate data, or simply shut down. By building Kredence as an open-source protocol on a public blockchain, we empower creators to take control of their intellectual property without relying on a walled garden.
