Technology entrepreneur and CEO of Phemight Technologies, Asaaju Peter, has raised concerns over what he describes as an unusual increase in WhatsApp account lockouts affecting some users.
Peter questioned the platform’s approach to account restrictions, particularly in situations where users believe their accounts have been locked without a clear explanation or sufficient opportunity to resolve the issue.
According to him, messaging platforms such as WhatsApp have become an important part of everyday communication and business operations, making unexpected account restrictions a serious concern for individuals, entrepreneurs, and businesses that rely on the platform to communicate with customers.
“WhatsApp has become more than just a messaging application. Many businesses depend on it every day to communicate with customers, receive enquiries and manage their operations. When an account is suddenly locked, it can have a real impact on the person or business behind that account,” Peter said.
He called on WhatsApp to provide clearer communication to affected users and improve the process for reviewing and appealing account restrictions.
Peter also encouraged users to follow WhatsApp’s terms of service and security guidelines while calling for greater transparency when automated systems flag or restrict accounts.
As digital communication continues to play a major role in modern business, the issue highlights the importance of balancing platform security with fair and accessible account-recovery procedures.
