Three autonomous electric vehicles can store as much clean energy as a modest wind farm. The combined battery capacity of the fleet matches the average output of a small onshore wind turbine array. For city planners this means mobile storage can replace or supplement fixed generation assets. When integrated with vehicle-to-grid (V2G) infrastructure, the fleet can deliver frequency regulation, peak shaving, and load shifting that traditionally rely on stationary batteries or diesel peakers. Municipal EV incentive programs that reward vehicles for providing grid services can be restructured to account for the aggregate storage capacity of autonomous fleets. Shifting to mobile storage also reduces the need for extensive underground cabling and stationary storage infrastructure, simplifying urban grid resilience strategies.
