AI coding tools have changed the way developers write software. But when it comes to building apps for Apple's ecosystem, the development workflow has its own challenges.
Swift, SwiftUI, Xcode projects, build errors, and debugging all require a good understanding of the Apple development environment.
We started thinking about a simple question:
What if an AI coding agent could do more than just generate code for Xcode?
That's the idea behind Phoenix.
The Problem with AI-Assisted Coding
Writing code is only one part of software development.
Developers also spend time:
Understanding unfamiliar codebases.
Fixing compiler and build errors.
Making changes across multiple files.
Reviewing AI-generated code.
Rebuilding and testing after every change.
Generating code is useful, but getting that code working inside an actual project is where much of the effort goes.
Introducing Phoenix
Phoenix is an AI coding agent built specifically for Xcode and Apple developers.
Instead of simply suggesting code, Phoenix helps with a broader development workflow.
Here's how it works:
- Describe what you need
Explain the feature or change you want in plain English.
- Understand the project
Phoenix examines the relevant project structure and context before making changes.
- Write and build
It generates Swift or SwiftUI code and runs Xcode builds.
- Fix build errors
When a build fails, Phoenix can analyze the errors, make corrections, and validate the changes.
- Review before applying
You can inspect the proposed code changes through visual diffs before approving them.
Privacy Matters Too
Your source code and project history stay on your Mac. Only the context needed for AI inference is sent to the model providers, and it isn't retained by them after inference.

For developers working on private projects, this is an important consideration.
Built for Developers Who Build for Apple
Phoenix is designed for developers working with:
Swift
SwiftUI
Xcode
iOS applications
Apple platforms
Our goal is to make AI-assisted development more practical by connecting code generation with the actual build and debugging workflow.
We'd Like to Hear From Other Developers
If you're building iOS applications, we'd love to hear about your experience.
What's the most time-consuming part of your Xcode workflow: writing code, understanding existing projects, debugging build errors, or reviewing AI-generated changes?
We're interested in learning how developers actually work and what could make that experience better.
