Hey everyone,
We've been working on an idea and wanted to share it here.
If you've tried using Razorpay with Elixir, you've probably noticed there's no maintained library for it. The only Hex package (razorpay) was last updated back in 2016 and only handles one-time payments and refunds. So most of us end up writing our own integration, especially for subscriptions.
So we're planning to build the OSWORKS Billing Adapter, an open-source billing layer for Phoenix apps. Razorpay first, with room for Stripe and others later.
Roughly what we have in mind:
- One-time payments, refunds and proper server-side verification
- Subscriptions: create, renew, cancel, failed payments
- Secure webhook handling (signature checks, no duplicate processing)
- Regular syncing with Razorpay so nothing gets missed
- A fake gateway for testing and a small LiveView demo app
It'll follow India's RBI rules for recurring payments and will never store card details. Just to be clear, it's a community project and not affiliated with Razorpay.
We've finished the feasibility study and will be starting small, with one-time payments first and then subscriptions.
Would love to hear what you think, especially if you've dealt with Razorpay in Elixir before. Drop a reply here or mail me at phravin@osworks.in
Cheers,
Phravin S
