I Built a Free Packaging Calculator for Custom Pouch Buyers
I recently built PouchCalc, a free packaging calculator and dieline request tool for custom pouch packaging projects.
Why I built it
In custom flexible packaging, many mistakes happen before production starts.
Buyers often begin artwork before confirming:
- pouch size
- bottom gusset
- material structure
- mylar bag thickness
- zipper position
- valve position
- dieline layout
This can cause wrong dimensions, poor shelf display, artwork mistakes, and production delays.
I wanted to create a simple tool that helps buyers, designers, and small brands plan packaging before requesting a quote or sending final artwork.
What PouchCalc includes
PouchCalc currently includes:
- Stand up pouch size calculator
- Mylar bag thickness converter
- Packaging material selector
- Shrink sleeve size calculator
- Free dieline request page
- Packaging guides for coffee bags, mylar bags, food pouches, and flexible packaging
Example use cases
A packaging buyer can use it to estimate:
- what size pouch may fit 250g coffee
- how to compare micron and mil thickness
- whether PET / VMPET / PE or PET / AL / PE is more suitable
- what information is needed before requesting a custom dieline
- how to plan pouch structure before artwork
What I am improving next
I am currently working on:
- better calculator UX
- more packaging material guides
- more custom pouch examples
- cleaner mobile UI
- better SEO structure for packaging topics
- more useful resources for packaging buyers and designers
Feedback welcome
I would love feedback from builders, designers, and product people:
- Is the homepage clear?
- Is the calculator flow easy to understand?
- Does the site feel useful for packaging buyers?
- What would make the tool more trustworthy?
