Yoo yellow fellow developers!!
I was building a social media platform for users to raise their voices. I have made a special algorithm for them, a...

Founder & CEO
This is now so many founders and CEOs lol
π thats why i feel this funny!!
but u r the official bug buster bro
proud of my CTO
CTO + Roaster + Bug buster + SHY person?
Unfortunately I can't put "Bug buster @Crowdwide" on LinkedIn π’
Founder & CEO fits perfectly, it was your brainchild and you built it from scratch, you oversee it and listen to user feedback, building it out. You've essentially started facebook for developers π€£
(Fun fact, Facebook started as a campus social media platform at Zuckerberg's university, it's only after it blew up there and people outside the uni wanted to join that they actually opened it to others).
ngl i didnβt know about that π
do you think something like this can actually grow though...? just wanted to know your opinion lol π
It already has? You started at 0, got 2, thought you hit a wall, now you're at 20? I'm busy going through YC's startupschool (free course, go sign up and go through them, you'll understand why). They specifically say, early stage startups, dont work the way that scale-tier companies do. You need to do targeted outreach. Right now, you've been doing posts, comments, etc. How about, when you comment about crowdwide, ask the individual people if they mind joining and giving you their opinion?
Eg. I'm not on crowdwide, though I've viewed it, because to me, it's 'just another product', but you on the other hand, I've had conversations with. Which means, 'test this product' means nothing to me, you (who I've had a convo with in comment sections) asking me 'would you mind trying my product', has alot more weight to it and I'd be more obliged to go do it.
Early stage startups need to be manual, every single customer, will likely be someone you ask personally to join. But that is exactly how you went from 0-20, you likely just dont realize it? So start asking individuals to join, check in with them, whether they're active on it, or not, ask questions, like 'I saw you stopped posting, I just wanted to check in if everything is alright? Are you enjoying the platform, or did you switch to something else?' that gives you customer feedback, that you need to improve it. Eg. 'Yeah, I have a bigger following on Dev.to, so I post on there'... So you ask 'so you're posting on Dev.to? That's great, but why not both? Is it too much work, or is it cuz you cant just copy-paste it over?' More likely, you'll find they say 'I havent tried copying it over, it's just a hassle', that's perfectly valid feedback, copy-pasting, isnt something they're doing, because they're lazy. So look into ways to make it more efficient. Let a user write once, post to multiple sites? That solves the customer's problem, because they can write it once, post it on Dev.to and crowdwide, which boosts your platform's content and more importantly, you create parity content, now a person whose actually checking both sites, see the same notification on both platforms, so if you present the post better than dev.to does, then they'd rather read it on crowdwide. Now you have a user that's dual-posting and you have readers that choose crowdwide over dev.to.
Please go through the startupschool course, it's literally just a ton of videos and blog posts, but you'll be amazed how much light it shines on all the questions you have. Like, why arent people giving feedback? Why arent people joining up? Will my platform grow? All are questions, you cant answer directly, you need metrics and chances are that the solution is something you havent thought of.
Definitely! I'll join the course after my exams.
Ngl, I started this as a hobby project, so seriously, I wasn't expecting any of this π
I really liked your way of explaining thingsβit's genuinely helpful getting advice from someone experienced. And honestly, I like implementing things very fast, so I'm already thinking about some of the stuff you mentioned
So... would you mind trying Crowdwide and telling me honestly what you think?
Would you like to become Crowdwide's 22nd member?
And hey, I can even give you a moderator role too! π₯
I'll join, but no need to make me mod π (though I like how fast you caught on, incentivize engagement, a moderator is more likely to be active, smart move sir).
I likely wont be very active till wednesday, right now is crunch time, I'm finishing a MVP for a partnership, so co-founder can start marketing it, while I'm also fixing up some stuff for my own project, that I'm gunna be submitting for this season's YC round... Wish me luck! submission due date is tuesday 6am my time, so not alot of time to get it done π
LOL, you caught me with that mod offer!! ππ
But hey, you literally told me that early-stage startups need to go to people individually and ask them So firstly, I wanted you to join because we've actually had some really helpful conversations, and secondly, I know you're a dev too, so I thought you might genuinely be a good fit for the moderator role π
So... maybe it wasn't completely a master plan ππ
Also, you've genuinely made me really interested in that YC Startup School course you suggested I was already planning to check it out after my exams, but now I'm even more curious about what I'll learn from it.
But seriously, good luck with everything! Finishing an MVP, helping with a partnership, working on your own project and submitting to YC sounds like absolute crunch time
Good luck with the YC application especially! I genuinely hope it goes well for you. Go finish that MVP firstβwe'll be waiting for you on Crowdwide
No pressure to be active until Wednesdayβfocus on getting everything submitted first. You've got this! πͺπ₯
I'm just gunna write what I see here.

That needs fixing, Crowdwide's Privacy Policy & Terms of Use (Or Terms of Service).
You can also add Google OAuth, which most users are more likely and more willing to use than direct github signin, It's free and easy to set up. (Sign in with Google), also a good way to get the user's icon from Google, which can be set as their default when they create their account, or likewise with git (I didnt sign in with git, so no clue if the functionality is there already)
Look into the font-spacing, the bold text is too pressed onto itself. Also consider adding a bit of contrast to each card, maybe a more distinct separation between the action keys at the bottom and the content block, a slightly darker background with lighten on highlight works well.
You also have alot of free real estate on the right. Consider wiring up Google ads. We all use adblockers and as long as it's non-invasive (no popups), it just brings you revenue and doesnt really bother us, we're used to it.
Your communities section is quite small still, which is fine, but future expansion, you can look at a user's tags and time spent on posts, then recommend communities to them via a newsletter?
But sofar so good! Keep it up and it'll get big!
Thanks a lot for taking the time to actually go through Crowdwide and write all of this!
I've noted everything you mentioned, and I'll definitely work on these issues and improvements in the next few updates. The detailed feedback is genuinely really helpfulβespecially since it's coming from someone who actually tested the platform instead of just saying βlooks goodβ π
Thanks again! And good luck with your YC submission and MVP too!
So starting to take this seriously? π
Thank you so much for the mention! πππ
π ngl i was thinking to mention that on main site of Crowdwide too...
So serious from now on? Then you should find a solution to the loading time issue.
π okay ill try to adjust and improve time issue!
but this problem is mainly due to free tier hosting plan
π im still not very serious about this... idk why...
idk why that founder & CEO sounds funny in my case
how did marketing go
Everything is going mostly as expected! The users whoβve joined are coming back more frequently after I added the mailing system for that, and new users are joining slowly too. Thatβs pretty much it for now!
Today I am so happy.π»
Thanks! Means a lot!!!π
Welcome didi :D
@effessdev π links fixed in this post!
