So what is in Crowdwide V2?
EVERYTHING IS ALMOST STABLE NOW!!
First of all, the UI is fully polished and minimal now.
Sidebars are clearer and cleaner!
Notifications now have no reload when you mark them as read.
Notifications now show timelines too: Today, Yesterday, and Earlier.
Improved algorithm for showing more appropriate content.
Improved post composer.
Added text formatting in posts.
Code highlighting in posts.
Text chats, group chats, reactions, etc.
And much more!!!!!

It already has? You started at 0, got 2, thought you hit a wall, now you're at 20? I'm busy going through YC's startupschool (free course, go sign up and go through them, you'll understand why). They specifically say, early stage startups, dont work the way that scale-tier companies do. You need to do targeted outreach. Right now, you've been doing posts, comments, etc. How about, when you comment about crowdwide, ask the individual people if they mind joining and giving you their opinion?
Eg. I'm not on crowdwide, though I've viewed it, because to me, it's 'just another product', but you on the other hand, I've had conversations with. Which means, 'test this product' means nothing to me, you (who I've had a convo with in comment sections) asking me 'would you mind trying my product', has alot more weight to it and I'd be more obliged to go do it.
Early stage startups need to be manual, every single customer, will likely be someone you ask personally to join. But that is exactly how you went from 0-20, you likely just dont realize it? So start asking individuals to join, check in with them, whether they're active on it, or not, ask questions, like 'I saw you stopped posting, I just wanted to check in if everything is alright? Are you enjoying the platform, or did you switch to something else?' that gives you customer feedback, that you need to improve it. Eg. 'Yeah, I have a bigger following on Dev.to, so I post on there'... So you ask 'so you're posting on Dev.to? That's great, but why not both? Is it too much work, or is it cuz you cant just copy-paste it over?' More likely, you'll find they say 'I havent tried copying it over, it's just a hassle', that's perfectly valid feedback, copy-pasting, isnt something they're doing, because they're lazy. So look into ways to make it more efficient. Let a user write once, post to multiple sites? That solves the customer's problem, because they can write it once, post it on Dev.to and crowdwide, which boosts your platform's content and more importantly, you create parity content, now a person whose actually checking both sites, see the same notification on both platforms, so if you present the post better than dev.to does, then they'd rather read it on crowdwide. Now you have a user that's dual-posting and you have readers that choose crowdwide over dev.to.
Please go through the startupschool course, it's literally just a ton of videos and blog posts, but you'll be amazed how much light it shines on all the questions you have. Like, why arent people giving feedback? Why arent people joining up? Will my platform grow? All are questions, you cant answer directly, you need metrics and chances are that the solution is something you havent thought of.

😅 Those are just the 2 with deadlines, ontop of that, I'm working on 2 other platforms (a rule-engine for catching and correcting AI outputs, before it ever touches a tool and an optimization database, that's super fast at analyzing codebases and determining where code is written 'sub-optimal' and patches it), 2 games (1 being built alongside the rule-engine as it's POC project, the other is Dwarven Stronghold), the rest of my projects I put on hold till this sprint is done, cuz these are the ones that matter most at the moment.

Honestly though, putting the other projects on hold and focusing on the ones that matter most right now sounds like the right move. The rule-engine and optimization database ideas sound especially interesting 👀

The rule-engine especially is turning out to be very interesting... error rate dropped so hard, that token efficiency went up 42%. And the optimization one is turning out to be alot more difficult to get working, but it does work... The false-positives is the problem, but I'm dealing with those 1 at a time, to refine it. The end goal for the optimization database, is to be cross-language capable (currently focused on python), so it can either migrate an entire codebase between languages, or just sub-systems and prove that through a FFI (foreign function interface) it still gives a performance gain. That's why I'm keeping them alive even now, cuz they might just be useful for the YC push. An AI that self-corrects before it wastes a token, a database that flags and fixes sub-optimal code, both executing in milliseconds, locally (seriously, they're lightweight as hell!), would be pretty damn cool dev-tools if you ask me?
Btw, just crossed my mind. Another thing they mentioned in startupschool's course, is 'fake it till you make it'. Sometimes, you need feedback on something, before you've automated it, to even see if it works, or if people like it. So for example, if you want to do a newsletter, write 1 up manually (or ask your AI to do it), then send it out, see if people engage with it. A great way to do that, is to add an origin to the urls, like that ChatGPT callout 🤣 you can add 'newsletter' to the links that people click on and check your analytics to see how many people actually clicked on 1, do that for 3 weeks (because a single data point, is worth nothing), then see if it's actually engaged with enough to see if it's worth adding to the system, because building an automated newsletter is easy, building 1 that's good is tough... You can use user's activity to also see which of those links they clicked on, so you can refine their habits and see what actually interested them. More often than not, only a single link in a newsletter interests a user and you can use that to refine the algorithm! If they just opened it and leave immediately, it means the title was engaging, but the content not to their taste, if they dont click on a topic in the main window and instead click on a bunch of others instead, but when they eventually do, they spend more time there, then that means poor title, but content match. That's how you can make the platform personalized and you can in turn, refine the newsletters to be personalized to the individual too.
Just as an example, all you need is your analytics dashboard and enough time to send out a newsletter once a week to get the data you need for it. Most features are like that, you could just test it manually and see if people like it, before committing to building and maintaining it. (Maintenance is the b#tch you want to avoid as much as possible, especially early on, high maintenance components take up time you could be improving other things).
I'm just gunna write what I see here.
That needs fixing, Crowdwide's Privacy Policy & Terms of Use (Or Terms of Service).
You can also add Google OAuth, which most users are more likely and more willing to use than direct github signin, It's free and easy to set up. (Sign in with Google), also a good way to get the user's icon from Google, which can be set as their default when they create their account, or likewise with git (I didnt sign in with git, so no clue if the functionality is there already)
Look into the font-spacing, the bold text is too pressed onto itself. Also consider adding a bit of contrast to each card, maybe a more distinct separation between the action keys at the bottom and the content block, a slightly darker background with lighten on highlight works well.
You also have alot of free real estate on the right. Consider wiring up Google ads. We all use adblockers and as long as it's non-invasive (no popups), it just brings you revenue and doesnt really bother us, we're used to it.
Your communities section is quite small still, which is fine, but future expansion, you can look at a user's tags and time spent on posts, then recommend communities to them via a newsletter?
But sofar so good! Keep it up and it'll get big!

Everything is going mostly as expected! The users who’ve joined are coming back more frequently after I added the mailing system for that, and new users are joining slowly too. That’s pretty much it for now!
