Hi Tomy! I agree with your tips on using batch deletes and indexes. The ORM gives such convenience functions that it is up to us to know how it operates under the hood so we can devise an optimal delete plan.
I want to also add that creating a database backup as a first step before deleting is an essential step in deleting large amounts of data in production.
