Hi all I'm a Math research scholar currently bored of my work. I already know quite a bit of Python. I was trying out few things in Node js can you guys suggest me things I can read up and probably help me get out of my phd.

Contrary to math stuff, programming is a lot of "do it until it breaks". You're totally welcome to read some documentation on Node or JS itself, but to be honest, I'd just tell you to find a problem to solve, and make a tool to solve it (even if it's already been done before!).

Not sure what you mean by "get out" of your PHD by the way. Not that I would have any advice for you anyways -- I'm not anywhere near there, and don't really ever plan to be! But props to getting all the way to a PHD! That's ~8 years of studying, right?

Hi there ,
Thanks, I appreciate the advice! I am sort of realising that programming is just jumping in and building things sounds like the best way to really learn. I'll start looking for a problem to tackle too.
My math research topic is related to abstract algebra, which has no significant real world application for at least a century. However the low pay and the isolation that comes with the subject have somewhat lowered my interest in it and the long duration tops it all... So
