I had been collecting ideas for a SaaS product for months.
The problem was that every time I thought about actually building it, I started thinking about developers, budgets, timelines, designs, and everything else that comes after the idea.
So I decided to remove all of that from the first step.
I opened Greta and built the first version myself.
I described the product, explained the main workflow, and started iterating.
The first version wasn't perfect, but that wasn't what I needed.
I needed something I could use.
Once I had it, I could finally see where the idea was weak.
One feature made no sense.
Another needed a completely different flow.
And the homepage was trying to explain five things when it only needed to explain one.
Those are things I probably wouldn't have discovered from a document.
Building with Greta gave me something much more useful than a specification: a working starting point.
Once the idea proved itself, I could think about what needed serious engineering.
But I didn't have to hire someone just to find out whether the idea was worth building.
That saved me from making a very expensive guess.
