I Built the Product Before Anyone Could Say “That's Impossible”

I deliberately didn't ask anyone whether the idea was realistic.

I knew what would happen.

Someone would tell me it was too complicated.

Someone would explain why it wouldn't work.

Someone would give me ten reasons to wait.

So I built the first version in Greta.

Not because I knew it would work.

Because I wanted to see it before collecting opinions about it.

Once the prototype existed, the conversation changed.

Some parts were obviously unrealistic.

Some were surprisingly simple.

One part turned out to be completely unnecessary.

And another part was much more interesting than I'd expected.

Building didn't prove the idea was good.

It made the idea concrete.

That's a powerful difference.

Sometimes you don't need another opinion before building.

You need something people can react to.

That's what I wanted from Greta.

Not a magic button that creates a perfect startup.

A way to stop talking about the idea and actually start testing it.
