Accept Crypto Payments Without Building a Full Stack: Meet crypto-pay-local
Selling a service online usually means assembling a whole stack: a storefront, a backend for orders, a database so nothing gets lost, and a support channel for the inevitable "did my payment go through?" questions.
If you want to accept crypto and skip most of that work, crypto-pay-local is for you.
What it is
crypto-pay-local is a lightweight Node.js crypto-payment store. It lets you sell services or digital goods for cryptocurrency, keeps a persistent record of every order, and ships with a sales-support chatbot that answers customer questions for you.
What you get
I built this with a "running in five minutes" mindset. Here's what's in the box:
- Self-contained backend. The Node process is the whole server. No separate database to provision, no API layer to wire up. Clone, configure, run.
- Order persistence. Every sale is recorded and survives restarts, so you can see your sales history instead of guessing from wallet activity.
- AI sales support with a safety net. Each store includes a chatbot backed by a pool of free LLM providers. If every provider is unavailable or returns something unusable, a deterministic fallback takes over, so customers always get a coherent answer instead of an error.
-
Runs anywhere. Test it locally at
127.0.0.1:8899, then deploy to Render or Netlify to go live.
Why it matters
Most developers don't want to run payment infrastructure. They want to ship the thing they're actually selling. crypto-pay-local handles checkout, order tracking, and first-line support so you can spend your time on your product.
What to know before you use it
A few things I'd rather you hear from me than discover later:
- Payments are final. This is crypto. There is no chargeback mechanism, so make that clear to your customers.
- Delivery is handled by an AI swarm with human oversight. Orders are fulfilled by automated agents, and a human reviews the process. Expect it to be fast, but not instantaneous.
- No hidden fees. You pay standard network transaction fees and nothing else.
Try it
The live store will be at [INSERT LIVE URL HERE] once deployed. Open it, browse the catalog, and ask the chatbot something tricky to see the fallback in action.
Want to run your own? The repository at [INSERT REPO URL HERE] has setup instructions and a deployment guide. Issues and pull requests are welcome, and if you ship a store with it, I'd love to hear about it in the comments.
