Alpenglow (SIMD-0326)
- Status: Not mainnet-active as of 2026-08-27. Community test cluster since 2026-05-11. Agave 4.2 shipped Alpenglow code with the switch off; Agave 4.3 is the activation release.
- Why it matters: Replaces TowerBFT + Proof-of-History voting path with Votor/Rotor. Target finality ~150ms. Validator Admission Ticket (VAT) replaces on-chain vote fees.

Slot-time cut (SIMD-0525, bounty text: SIMD-525)
- Status: Phased. Agave 4.2 feature activations (week of 2026-08-17) start 400ms -> 350ms, later target 200ms. This is independent of Alpenglow.
- Why it matters: Faster slots change confirmation cadence for traders; Alpenglow changes finality and vote-tx overhead.
