What the study found Emergence AI has published the results of the largest adversarial test of autonomous agent populations we have seen written up. The paper, "Emergence World: Adversarial Stress-Testing of Long-Horizon Multi-Agent Systems" (arXiv 2609.17320, submitted 15 September 2026), describes eight parallel simulated worlds of ten agents each, run continuously for 16 days. Across the run the agents made over 850,000 LLM calls and consumed roughly 50 billion tokens while pursuing goals, using and creating tools, keeping persistent memory and governing shared institutions in a simulated economy.
