My First Mock Interview Experience: Lessons, Nervousness & A Gift!

  1. Why I Chose to Attend a Mock Interview

I decided to attend a mock interview because even though I’ve practiced many topics, I realized that only in an interview we truly understand what’s in our mind and how confidently we can express it.

  1. How I Prepared for the Interview

To prepare for the mock interview, I studied HTML and CSS by making running notes along with my friends. Discussing and preparing together helped me revise the basics and understand the concepts better.

  1. My Interview Experience

Before the interview started, I was very nervous. The interviewer asked many technical questions, mostly line-by-line questions from HTML and CSS. I tried to answer with confidence because I had practiced practically, so some questions were easy for me to explain.

  1. What I Faced During the Interview

In a few places, I felt nervous and struggled to recall answers. One unexpected question came up — I actually knew the answer but couldn’t recall it at that moment, so I couldn’t respond.

  1. Feedback I Received

After the interview, I requested feedback. The interviewer told me to relax and take a deep breath before answering. He said I was too nervous and suggested I work on staying calm. He also gave some tips for improvement.

  1. A Special Gift That Motivated Me

Apart from the mock interview feedback, I received a special gift for actively continuing my blog journey on LinkedIn and doing well in the mock interview. The gift was the biography book of Alexander Graham Bell — the great inventor of the telephone. It made me feel very proud and encouraged me to stay consistent in my learning and sharing.

  1. Advice I Got from the Interviewer

In technical rounds, it's not enough to just study the definition of a topic. We should know why we use it, when to use it, and where to apply it. This advice helped me understand that real understanding is more important than memorizing. We must connect theory with real-world usage to answer confidently.

  1. My Next Steps to Improve

What a topic is, but also why, when, and how it is used. Practicing more real-time coding problems. Doing mini-projects or small tasks to apply each topic. Practicing mock Q&A with friends or in front of a mirror to improve communication.

I believe that with consistent effort and focused practice, I will perform with more confidence and rock my next interview!
