Disabling macOS 27 Siri AI Writing Tools UI via Terminal

In macOS 27 Golden Gate, the WritingTools framework injects a floating UI element into text entry points. For users or developers who wish to disable this behavior, it can be toggled via the FeatureFlags domain.

Disabling the UI

Run the following commands in Terminal:

sudo mkdir -p /Library/Preferences/FeatureFlags/Domain
sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/FeatureFlags/Domain/WritingTools LightweightUI_macOS -dict Enabled -bool false

Restart the system to apply changes.

Reverting

To restore the functionality:

sudo defaults delete /Library/Preferences/FeatureFlags/Domain/WritingTools LightweightUI_macOS
