An MCP server for Swiss household employment, with a source for every number

Employing a cleaner or a nanny in Switzerland means 26 sets of rules. Every canton has its own compensation office and form, its own family allowance rate and admin fee, and some have their own minimum wage. Sickness allowance insurance is mandatory in some cantons and not in others. The simplified procedure stops at CHF 22'680 a year per employee. The rates change every January.

A general-purpose assistant answers these questions from training data, so it cannot know which rates apply this year or which canton changed its rules last month. Households can get a confident number that is a year out of date.

We built a public MCP server that gives assistants the answers from the same engine that runs clino.ch: https://clino.ch/mcp.

What it does

Nine read-only tools. The main one, get_hiring_checklist, takes a canton, wage, hours and start date and returns the plan: the steps with real dates (registration deadline, first payslip, annual declaration), the employer cost and net wage, the minimum-wage check at the workplace postcode, and whether daily sickness allowance insurance is required. The others price a job across all 26 cantons, return one canton's rules, and list the official documents behind the figures.

Design choices

  1. Every figure carries its proof. get_official_sources returns 151 figures, each with the source document, URL, a verbatim quote and the date it was checked. An assistant can cite instead of paraphrase.
  2. Structured output. Every tool has an output schema, so the assistant gets numbers and dates as fields, not prose to re-parse.
  3. Read-only and stateless. No account, no session. The usage log keeps the tool name, canton, language and the client's name, with no IP address and nothing the user typed. Tool annotations say so (readOnlyHint), so clients know a call changes nothing.
  4. Six languages. German, French and Italian for the cantons, English, Spanish and Portuguese for the many households and workers who don't speak them.
  5. search and fetch. ChatGPT deep research expects these two tools; they expose the canton pages and guides as citable documents.

Try it

  • Claude: Settings, Connectors, add https://clino.ch/mcp.
  • Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http clino https://clino.ch/mcp
  • Cursor and VS Code: one-click installs on clino.ch/en/mcp.

Then ask: "Our nanny starts in Geneva on 1 November, 20 hours a week at CHF 28. What do we have to do, and by when?"

Open data

The figures are on GitHub under CC BY 4.0 (CSV and JSON), with a CITATION file: github.com/salvador-creator/clino-mcp. Always-current copies are on clino.ch/opendata.

General information, not legal advice; in a specific case the canton's compensation office decides.
