SlothDesk: Make Room for Slow
Productivity tools often make people feel like they are falling behind.
SlothDesk takes a different approach: it turns an overwhelming task list into a calm, achievable plan made of tiny wins.
What I built
SlothDesk is a gentle task planner designed around the Week 3 “Slow and Steady” theme.
It includes:
- A simple daily task planner
- Tiny-win task labels
- Task completion tracking
- A progress indicator
- A calm, low-pressure interface
- Local-first AI positioning
- Support for connecting to open-source models through Ollama or LM Studio
Why open-source AI?
The goal is to keep the planning experience private and accessible.
SlothDesk is designed to work with an OpenAI-compatible local model, such as an Ollama-hosted model. This means users can eventually process their task lists locally instead of sending personal productivity data to a hosted service.
The .env.example file includes the configuration needed to connect a local model.
How it fits “Slow and Steady”
SlothDesk is intentionally not a hustle dashboard.
It does not focus on:
- Streaks
- Productivity scores
- Competitive rankings
- Guilt-driven reminders
Instead, it encourages people to start with one small task and build momentum gradually.
The interface is based on three principles:
- Break large tasks into tiny steps.
- Keep the experience human and pressure-free.
- Let users own their data.
