Transfer files between Android and Ubuntu via USB

I use Ubuntu as my primary OS on my personal laptop. I use an Android phone. I wanted to transfer some files between Android and Ubuntu. I was shocked that Ubuntu doesn't provide the ability to transfer files by default.

How to fix the issue.

After spending some time over google I figured that Ubuntu doesn't support MTP by default. I installed gmtp to get the file transfer working
sudo apt-get install gmtp
