The Indian Linux Users Group, Chennai (ILUGC) conducted its December 2025 monthly meetup on December 13, 2025, at IIT Madras, Aerospace Engineering. The in-person event brought together Free/Open Source Software enthusiasts for an afternoon of knowledge sharing.
Talk 0: Talos – A Modern OS for Kubernetes
Speaker: Shakthi Kannan
This talk introduced Talos as a secure and minimal operating system for Kubernetes. It explained declarative configuration, API-based management, and immutability. The session demonstrated how Talos enables reliable and drift-free Kubernetes deployments.
Talk 1: IRC, Tilde Communities and Social Computing
Speaker: Irfan Jalal
This talk covered the history of IRC and tilde communities. It explained how early decentralized communication enabled online collaboration. The session connected these ideas to modern social computing and internet culture.
Talk 2: The Problem I Faced While Booting Linux
Speaker: Gopinathan Asokan
This talk discussed a real-world Linux boot issue faced by the speaker. It explained the commands used to diagnose and fix the problem. The session provided practical troubleshooting insights for Linux users.
Although I did not fully understand all the topics as I am a fresher, the meetup helped me learn new concepts and motivated me to explore Free and Open Source Software further.
