Looking back, the two were closer than they seemed.
In 2015, I co-founded TechLookBD.
In December 2015, I started my BSc in Computer Science and Engineering at City University.
For five years, I did both.
Classes and assignments on one side.
SEO and content work for clients on the other.
My undergrad project was Autometify, a touch-based home automation controller.
Hardware, logic, systems.
Then I'd go back to keywords, briefs and client websites.
Along the way, I also worked as a Senior Executive at AjkerDeal.com and as an SEO Analyst at Web Integrator Ltd, a USA-based agency.
The agency went remote in 2019.
I finished my degree in 2020.
Here's what computer science gave me:
Crawlability. Indexation. Canonicals. Sitemaps. Site structure.
I see a website as a system.
When something breaks, I look for the cause in the data.
Here's what the work gave me:
Writing. Technology articles, software reviews, listicles, landing pages, service pages, product copy.
Search intent. Topical maps. Keyword clusters.
And client communication, which no course ever covered.
The milestones:
2022: We opened our office.
November 24, 2022: Top Rated Plus on Upwork.
2024: TechLookBD named "Most Pioneering SEO Strategy Company 2024" at the MarTech Awards.
October 2026: LanceRank Certificate of Verified Standing.
Today I lead SEO strategy at TechLookBD and mentor SEO learners at Prayogik.com, helping them understand the intersection of technology and content strategy.
The degree taught me how websites work.
The work taught me how people search, read and decide.
Did you end up working in the field you studied?
