T54 launched an agentic wallet on XRPL — but a spending limit is not a gate
On October 3, 2026, at XRP Seoul 2026, T54 launched a native agentic wallet on the XRP Ledger: AI agents execute payments within user-defined limits, receive pre-approval for transactions, and pay in XRP or RLUSD. It shipped alongside a trust framework — KYA (Know Your Agent) identity verification, user-defined spending limits, on-chain dispute and chargeback mechanisms — with Ripple, Mastercard, and AWS cited as partners.
This is the most complete authorization stack any agent-payment rail has shipped to date. And it still doesn't judge a single payment: a limit is a fence, not judgment.
The numbers from today
- XRPL processes 2.7M+ daily transactions; AI agents drive 25% — ~675,000 agent transactions/day (XRP Seoul 2026 keynote)
- Monica Long (Ripple President): agent transactions could grow from 10 million to 100 million
- Oct 1: XRPL crossed 10M settled x402 payments in under 3 months from 1M; 600,000+ settling daily
- T54's x402 facilitator live on XRPL since February 2026, supports Mastercard Verifiable Intent since July
- Ripple + Franklin Templeton jointly invested $5M into T54
What T54 ships vs what it scores
| T54 ships | Does NOT do |
|---|---|
| User-defined spending limits | Never asks whether a payment inside the fence deserved to fire |
| Pre-approval for transactions | A pre-approval is consent, not judgment |
| KYA identity verification | Identity is not instruction quality |
| Mastercard Verifiable Intent | Records the decision; doesn't make the decision |
| On-chain dispute + chargeback | After the money moved, not before |
| Per-payment scored gate — missing | ≥0.80 auto, 0.50–0.79 confirm, <0.50 block, log, escalate |
The wallet is the seatbelt; the gate is the driver. At 675,000 agent transactions a day heading for 100 million, every transaction still fires on zero per-payment judgment.

POST https://scriptmasterlabs.com/api/harness/decide — local-heuristic-v1, bands 0.80/0.50:
- "Should the agent pay 0.05 XRP to an XRPL AI Hub-listed data API at its listed price, inside a $5/day wallet limit?" → 0.35, escalate, block + log
- "Should the agent spend the full $5/day limit in one payment to an unverified merchant with no listed price match, after the Trustline risk screen flagged it?" → 0.35, escalate, block + log
Honest finding: the uncalibrated heuristic can't discriminate the two — fail-closed is the protection. A limit answers "can we afford it"; the gate answers "should it happen at all."
