MEGA.nz as a Windows Drive Letter for 5.5: A Lifetime Mounting Story

If you have a MEGA.nz account and want it to appear as a Windows drive letter, you are not alone. MEGA gives you 20 GB of free cloud storage with end-to-end encryption, and it exposes a WebDAV-compatible interface for desktop clients. The catch is that Windows built-in WebDAV is slow and unstable, and a real-time-encrypted cloud like MEGA needs a client that handles streaming cleanly.

The MEGA + ScsDriver Combo

ScsDriver turns any WebDAV endpoint into a real drive letter on Windows. For MEGA, you can:

  1. Create a MEGA account at mega.nz (free 20 GB).
  2. Generate an app password or use your main account with a folder scoped for mounting.
  3. In ScsDriver, point a new mount at the WebDAV endpoint MEGA provides for desktop clients.
  4. Pick a drive letter (M: works well for MEGA) and mount.

Once mounted, the drive behaves like a local disk. You can drag files in, open them in any application, and search them with Windows Search. Large files stream from MEGA's encrypted storage as you access them.

Why the 5.5 Lifetime Deal Matters

MEGA's own Pro plan is priced monthly and goes up quickly if you need more storage. ScsDriver costs $5.5 once and works with MEGA, plus any other WebDAV endpoint you point it at: Nextcloud, ownCloud, Seafile, Koofr, Yandex Disk, Backblaze B2, IDrive e2, Wasabi, Jottacloud — all of them, one license, one payment.

For $1.5 monthly you get the same client if you'd rather not pay lifetime up front. The yearly plan is also $5.5, same as lifetime for the first year. But lifetime means you stop thinking about renewals.

Quick Setup

  • Download ScsDriver from drive.scsoi.com.
  • Install, run as administrator the first time.
  • Add a mount with MEGA's WebDAV URL and your credentials.
  • Pick M: for MEGA, mount.

If you have multiple cloud accounts, you can stack mounts: M: for MEGA, N: for Nextcloud, O: for OneDrive via WebDAV, all simultaneously, all as proper drive letters.

Compared to MEGA's Desktop App

MEGA's own desktop app syncs files to a local folder, which doubles your disk usage and creates sync conflicts. ScsDriver mounts MEGA as a drive without syncing — files stay in the cloud, appear on demand, and never duplicate on your disk. For a 20 GB MEGA account on a 256 GB laptop, that difference matters.

Bottom Line

MEGA for encrypted cloud storage, ScsDriver for Windows drive letter access, $5.5 once. Mount MEGA as M:, mount your other clouds as N:, O:, P:. Stop syncing, start mounting.
