Hello everyone,
I’ve decided to share my software journey with you all. I hope it might encourage or inform someone out there. I’m a computer engineering student in Turkey, and I’ve been involved with software for about three years now. During this time, I’ve explored many different areas, trying to find where I fit best. Sometimes, I even doubted if I was really meant for software. That was often frustrating, but in the end, the dream of working in the career I want kept me going.
If you’re thinking, “Maybe I should become a software developer,” know that it’s never too late. There’s always time. Of course, there’s a lot to learn and a long way to go, but if you have the passion and desire, nothing and no one can stop you.
Throughout my university years, I often compared myself to others and felt like I was lacking. But I realized that if I want to be a successful software developer or computer engineer, I have to start somewhere. Starting from zero knowledge was scary at first, but today I know that when you start, tomorrow you’ll be more knowledgeable and experienced. Every small step gives you more hope, motivation, and determination.
Even though I’m still at the beginning of this path, I’ve experienced many feelings. Somehow, I found the motivation to carve out my own way and took action. Over the past three years, I’ve improved myself by coding in various programming languages and working on different projects. I’ve especially focused on personal projects in full-stack web development, data science, and AI, alongside taking courses to grow. I’ve also dabbled in mobile app frontend development and game development with Unity.
Today, I joined the DEV community to connect with others, grow, develop, and support each other. I really love that here, no matter your level, you can express yourself freely.
If you’re just starting out like me, here’s something I want you to know: you don’t need to know everything at the beginning. You’ll get frustrated many times along the way, but always remember you’re doing something you enjoy. Every bug will teach you something new. You’re not alone.
Moving forward, I’ll continue improving myself and working on both personal and collaborative projects. Most importantly, I’ll keep learning — both in my field and beyond — because learning is always fun for me. Maybe one day I’ll take my path into completely different areas of software, who knows? But for now, I love improving myself, learning, talking, and sharing.
If you feel the same way or are also at the beginning of your journey, I’d love to connect with all of you. I’m eager to hear your advice and be there for your questions or challenges whenever you need help.
Thank you for reading — this is just the beginning.
