1. Miners Move Markets
Miners hold large BTC. When they suffer, they sell. When profitable, they hold. Hashrate + difficulty reveal their state.
2. Hashrate
Total compute securing BTC. Rises when mining profitable, drops when not.
- Falling hashrate = miners shutting down (capitulation)
- Rising = confidence
3. Difficulty
Every 2016 blocks (~2 weeks), BTC adjusts difficulty to keep 10-min blocks.
- Rising difficulty = more competition
- Falling = miners exiting
4. Mining Cost Basis
Estimate: electricity ($/kWh) × rig efficiency. If BTC price < cost → miners unprofitable → sell pressure.
5. Miner Capitulation Index
When hashrate drops + price < cost → capitulation. Historically near bottoms.
