BibTeX removes repetitive typing. It does not remove the need to check metadata.
- Title — especially when the PDF filename is meaningless.
- Author — organization and personal authors are often mixed up.
- Year and DOI/URL — verify the publication year and route back to the original.
A clean-looking Zotero record can still contain bad source metadata. Import first, verify second.
Automation should save time without turning unchecked data into a polished-looking citation.
