Search across indexed NotebookLM notebooks

Cross-notebook search needs a clear coverage model.

NotebookBloom indexes the chat and Studio content loaded when Search opens inside a notebook. Once indexed, that notebook can appear beside other indexed notebooks and saved source records, citations, cards and prompts.

The extension does not silently crawl every notebook in the account. An unopened notebook is not searchable, and source text that the page never loaded is not available to the local index.

A practical first test is small. Open one notebook, let indexing finish, and search for a distinctive phrase from the current conversation. Use Go to result and confirm that the notebook returns to the matching context.

The limitation is part of the privacy design: the index and query stay in the browser rather than being uploaded to a central search service.

Practical checklist

Use a public or non-sensitive notebook for the first test. Verify the output before deleting the intermediate file, and keep the product limitation visible.
