OKF Isn’t Replacing Vector Databases. It’s Freeing Them.

There’s a lot of discussion around Open Knowledge Format (OKF) and whether it could replace vector databases.

I think that frames the problem incorrectly.

OKF and semantic search solve different problems. Deterministic traversal works well when knowledge is structured and predictable, while semantic retrieval is still essential for ambiguous questions, discovery, and knowledge that wasn't explicitly anticipated.

The future isn't OKF vs. Vector Databases.

It's OKF + Semantic Search.

OKF can be the canonical knowledge layer, while semantic indexes become derived, rebuildable, and replaceable.
