The company that made DEV·TV's first video is now on its Spotlight

When I launched DEV·TV, a TV-style browser app for developer content, it needed a video. I didn't have one. Montage made it, and they did it really well.

Today Montage is on DEV·TV's Spotlight channel.

What Montage is

Montage is an experimental AI-powered video production tool. It aims to make creating polished videos as simple as describing what you want. You give it your website, tell it what you'd like to make, and refine the result through natural-language feedback. Montage handles the complexity of putting everything together.

It's in private beta with a waitlist, and the demo is worth a watch:

What the Spotlight channel is

DEV·TV is a single index.html with no backend. It has channels for GitHub, Hacker News, new AI models, agent skills and more. The Spotlight channel is the one I curate by hand: developers send me what they built, and it goes into the rotation with its own slide, tags, and an optional video.

Right now it features:

  • Astratide: an AI-powered personal astrology visualizer
  • CogZ: local-first, code-aware memory for AI coding agents
  • is-kit: a zero-dependency toolkit for composable TypeScript type guards
  • Ponytail: a skill that makes your coding agent write less code
  • Montage: describe the video you want, and it makes it

Why Montage

Most of what ends up on Spotlight is a project someone sent me. This one is different: Montage helped make DEV·TV itself. I asked if they'd want a slide of their own, and they said yes, which is why this post exists.

See it

  1. Open DEV·TV
  2. Press the gold 13 SPOTLIGHT button
  3. Click through to read about Montage and watch the demo

If you've built something, you can get your project featured from the same channel. The link can go to a repo, a website, a newsletter or a YouTube video.

DEV·TV is open source under Apache-2.0: github.com/shouvik12/devtv.

Thanks to Connor and the Montage team. If you try Montage when it opens up, tell me what you make.
