Two photos, one 3D moment: real stereo photos on any iPhone (even ones without Spatial capture)

Apple's Spatial photos need a recent Pro-style iPhone. If you have an older iPhone, or an iPhone Duo (whose camera layout can't shoot Spatial), you're left out. But stereo photography is older than the camera phone: you just need two views of the same scene from two points about one eye-distance apart.

That's the idea behind Stereo Camera in StereoShift.

How it works

  1. Take the left photo.
  2. Slide the phone about 6.4 cm to the right (roughly the distance between your eyes). Keep it level and don't turn it.
  3. Take the right photo.
  4. StereoShift aligns the two shots and merges them into a side-by-side (SBS) 3D photo with real parallax, not estimated depth.

Tips for good results:

  • Still scenes work best, ideally with the subject 2 m or more away. Anything moving between shots (people, leaves, water) will ghost.
  • Slide, don't rotate. Rotation adds vertical disparity that's uncomfortable to look at.
  • Use a table edge or a wall as a guide rail if you want a perfectly straight move.

When you don't have a second shot

For photos and videos you already took, StereoShift's AI 2D-to-3D uses an on-device depth model (Apple Neural Engine, fully offline) to generate SBS 3D, with adjustable 3D strength, and videos keep their original audio. iPhone Spatial photos and videos can also be split into SBS so they play on non-Apple headsets.

Watching the result

The built-in Web Share server hosts a private, PIN-protected gallery on your Wi-Fi or the iPhone's own hotspot. Open the address in a Quest, Pico or Vision Pro browser, pick a thumbnail and tap Enter VR. No uploads, cables or file copying.
