TL;DR: The 2025 Volume 3 release introduces major upgrades to document processing libraries across .NET and Java platforms. Developers can now redact PDFs, convert Word documents with better layout fidelity, and render Excel charts to images or PDFs, streamlining document automation workflows.

What’s new in Document Processing Libraries

The Syncfusion® 2025 Volume 3 release introduces exciting new capabilities to our Document Processing Libraries, making life easier for developers working across platforms like .NET Framework, .NET Core, ASP.NET Core, MAUI, Flutter, Java, and more. And the best part? These libraries work without any dependency on Microsoft Office or Adobe Reader, giving you full control to create, read, write, and convert PDF, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files programmatically.

Let’s dive into what’s new in this release!

.NET PDF Library: Smarter Redaction

We’ve added Quad Point Support to PDF redaction annotations, making redactions more precise and flexible. This is especially useful for multi-line text selections and complex document layouts, ensuring accurate coverage and better adaptability.

.NET Word Library: Richer visuals and multilingual support

This release brings a suite of powerful enhancements to the Word Library:

Advanced Chart support in DOCX

You can now create and preserve the following chart types directly in your DOCX documents:

  • Treemap
  • Sunburst
  • Histogram
  • Box & Whisker
  • Funnel

These charts help you deliver data-rich, visually engaging reports with ease.

Multilingual page numbering

Page numbers can now be generated in languages like Arabic, Hebrew, Chinese, Thai, and more, making it perfect for global reports, contracts, and educational materials that require culturally accurate formatting.

Text composition preservation

When converting Word documents to PDF or images, diacritic characters (used in languages like Vietnamese, French, Portuguese, Spanish, and German) are now preserved exactly as they appear in the original document. This ensures linguistic accuracy and professional presentation.

Picture enhancements

  • Crop to shape: Preserves shape-based cropping applied to pictures during Word-to-PDF or image conversion. Cropped pictures like circles, rounded rectangles, stars, and custom remain intact across formats. This ensures design consistency and eliminates the need for post-export adjustments in professional documents.
  • Picture transparency: Preserves transparency (opacity) applied to pictures during Word-to-PDF or image conversion. This enhancement is ideal for maintaining visual layering and design integrity in professional documents.

.NET Excel Library

The .NET Excel Library has the following new updates:

Chart to image conversion

The Syncfusion® Excel Library supports the following chart types in chart-to-image conversion. This enhancement ensures that these charts are accurately preserved during Excel to PDF and Excel to image conversions, maintaining visual fidelity and data clarity.

  • Stacked Line
  • Stacked Line with Marker
  • Volume high low close
  • Volume open high low close

Performance improvements

The Syncfusion® Excel Library renders charts significantly faster during Excel to PDF conversion, and processing speed has improved across all chart types, making operations on large datasets more efficient.

Java Word Library

Just like in .NET, the Java Word Library now supports multilingual page numbering, including Arabic, Hebrew, Chinese, Thai, and more. This ensures your documents remain culturally accurate and professionally formatted across languages.

Conclusion

With the 2025 Volume 3 release, Syncfusion’s Document Processing Libraries are more powerful, precise, and performance-driven than ever. Whether you’re redacting sensitive PDFs, rendering complex Excel charts, or converting multilingual Word documents with flawless fidelity, these upgrades are designed to simplify your workflows and elevate your apps.
