Apple shipped iOS 27.2 on October 26, 2026, and the security side of the release is bigger than the feature headlines suggest.
The numbers
- Fixes tied to 163 trackable CVE identifiers
- More than 30 WebKit flaws and roughly 15 kernel issues
- Other affected areas include Apple Intelligence and mail privacy
- Apple says it has no knowledge of these flaws being exploited in the wild
The jailbreak angle
Researchers at Calif say most of the vulnerabilities behind their iOS 27.0.1 jailbreak are patched in 27.2. That's "most", not "all": the bugs used in the separate iPhone Duo demo aren't documented in enough detail to confirm every one is closed. Calif doesn't plan to release a public jailbreak tool.
On the Siri side
The assistant gains conversation memory and an "Excluded Apps" setting to limit which apps Siri, Search and suggestions can read, plus beta support for Spanish, French, Japanese, Korean and Portuguese. Those features need an iPhone 15 Pro or newer and aren't launching in the EU or mainland China for now.
If you maintain anything that renders web content on iOS, the WebKit count alone makes this one worth installing promptly.
