Most people "learn" for-loops by reading a tutorial once.
Then they freeze the first time a real prompt says: sum this list, skip blanks, or stop early when you find a match.
Loops only stick when you write them under feedback.
A practice sequence that works
Do these in order (15–25 minutes):
- Print every item in a list
- Sum numbers while looping
- Count items that match a condition
- Filter (keep only even numbers)
- Use
rangeandenumerate - Reverse-iterate once you can go forward cleanly
Rule: finish one pattern before you jump to the next.
How to practice without installing Python
Use a browser editor with:
- a clear prompt
- examples
- visible tests
Fail a test on purpose. Fix one failure. Repeat.
Try this path
I built a focused set of for-loop drills here:
→ Python for-loop exercises on PySchool.ai
Also useful:

- Free start: Define a Variable
If you only do one thing today: open one loop exercise, get the first test green, then stop. Consistency beats marathon sessions.
