VoidZero, the company behind the Vite build tool, released Vite+ 1.0 on September 28, 2026. It is the first stable version of an all-in-one toolchain for web development. A single command, vp, manages the Node.js runtime, the package manager, builds, tests, linting and formatting. Vite+ is free, MIT licensed and close to two million weekly downloads. For teams that maintain a separate config file for every tool, it offers one file instead.
What Vite+ bundles
A toolchain is the set of programs a project uses to build, test and check its code. Vite+ puts existing open source tools behind one command line. According to VoidZero's announcement, the pieces are:
| Job | Tool inside Vite+ | Command |
|---|---|---|
| Dev server and production builds | Vite 8 and Rolldown |
vp dev, vp build
|
| Formatting, linting and type checks | Oxfmt and Oxlint | vp check |
| Unit, component and browser tests | Vitest | vp test |
| Library packaging | tsdown | vp pack |
| Monorepo tasks with caching | Vite Task | vp run |
| Node.js versions | Built in | vp env |
All of them are set up from one vite.config.ts file, InfoQ reports. VoidZero describes Vite+ as "a single entry point to web development."
VoidZero is careful about what Vite+ is not. It is "neither a framework, nor a package manager and definitely not a replacement for Vite," the post says.
VoidZero makes three speed claims. Oxlint runs 50 to 100 times faster than ESLint, and Oxfmt up to 30 times faster than Prettier. Native support for the React Compiler is 10 times faster than the Babel plugin.
What changed since the beta
The beta shipped on July 2. Version 1.0 adds these features:
-
More CI options. The
setup-vpaction now works with GitLab CI/CD as well as GitHub Actions. -
Easier migration.
vp migratenow handles projects that use tsup, plus more edge cases. InfoQ notes that large projects may still need follow-up work. - New ways to install. Vite+ now ships through Homebrew and as a Docker image.
-
New commands. These are
vp toolchain,vp env doctor,vp hooksandvp staged.
The release also arrives alongside Vitest 5 as a stable version. Vite 8.1 adds an experimental Bundled Dev Mode.
Who is using it
VoidZero counts more than 2,600 public repositories using Vite+, not including private projects or global installs. InfoQ names early adopters including Tiptap, Dify, BlockNote, Hono and Cloudflare's own vinext.
VoidZero announced on June 4 that it was joining Cloudflare. InfoQ describes Vite+ as Cloudflare's newly acquired toolchain. The announcement lists no price or paid tier for Vite+.
Getting started
VoidZero gives one-line installers. On macOS and Linux:
curl -fsSL https://vite.plus | bash
On Windows, in PowerShell:
irm https://vite.plus/ps1 | iex
Then run vp create for a new project, or vp migrate to move an existing one. Running vp on its own opens an interactive prompt.
What comes next
VoidZero lists remote caching and deeper diagnostics for monorepos as next steps. It also plans vp release and vp docs commands.
What this means for developers
-
Try the migration on a branch.
vp migratecan move an existing project, but large ones may need manual fixes. Run it on a branch and compare build output before you merge. - Check your lint rules first. Swapping ESLint and Prettier for Oxlint and Oxfmt is where the speed comes from. Confirm that the rules your team relies on are covered before switching.
-
Fewer configs to maintain. One
vite.config.tsreplaces separate files for the bundler, test runner, linter and formatter. That is less to keep in sync across a monorepo. -
CI setup gets simpler. The
setup-vpaction covers both GitHub Actions and GitLab CI/CD, so one setup step can install the whole toolchain. - Watch the Cloudflare link. Vite+ is MIT licensed and free today. Teams that depend on it should follow how Cloudflare's ownership shapes the roadmap.
