Am I too old for a change?

Hey everyone. I work in the Ops side of the shop as a Systems Administrator in Dallas, Texas.

Just turned 40 yo. I've had some software development classes in college, but that was 10+ years ago.

Is it worth the career change?

If I did, I'd be most interested in web-based enterprise applications in docker.

It is not so much about the age, however are you willing to put in the required time, effort, and practice? Software engineering is a diverse and dynamic field but it offers many opportunities for learning, growth, and creativity.

To begin with you'll need to learn some essential skills and technologies for example coding languages like Python, Java, JavScript, CSS, C# etc. For Dockers you'll have to understand the concepts and components of docker, such as images, containers, volumes, networks, and registries as well as the docker commands and tools, such as docker build, docker run, docker push, docker pull, and docker-compose, to create, manage, and deploy their applications in containers.

Software engineer is a viable option if you put in the effort.
