openconstructor is a free, open-source AI interface builder that runs in the browser: drop ready-made blocks on a canvas, ask the AI to build or change anything, then publish a link or export real code. This update is the biggest one so far.

AI that feels faster and does less damage
- Live answers. With your own key (Groq, OpenRouter, Gemini, Anthropic and more), the model's reasoning, text and code now stream into the chat as they are written. No more staring at a spinner for 20 seconds.
- Edit one part of a block. Double-click a block, pick a single button or heading and tell the AI what to change. Only that part is rewritten; the rest stays exactly as it was. One Ctrl+Z brings it back.
- Ask anything. The chat now answers questions on any topic in formatted text (lists, code, links) and never turns an answer into a component on your page.
- Brand kit. Paste your website: colours, font, corner radius and logo are read automatically, and the AI follows them in every new block.
- ✦ Make it better. An AI design review of any block: hierarchy, spacing, contrast and mobile fit, fixed in place.
- Dark or light version. One click and the AI recolours every block of the page for a dark or a light background.
- "Add next" suggestions. After a page is built, one click adds the usual missing sections: pricing, FAQ, testimonials, footer.
Pages that work everywhere
- Phones and tablets. Free-form pages used to show a tiny desktop copy on phones. Now blocks flow into one column on phones and the page scales down on tablets. Pure CSS, no scripts.
- Scroll animations. Blocks of a published page can appear smoothly while you scroll, using CSS scroll-driven animations.
- No more background strips. A site made of full-width sections now fits its content exactly.
- Lock a block. Right-click → lock position, so a big background block doesn't move by accident.
- Real addresses for screens. Every screen of a multi-screen page gets its own URL, like /p/my-site/about.
Export a real project
- Static site (.zip). index.html plus pictures as separate files, ready for any static hosting.
- Vite + React (.zip). A ready project: npm install, npm run dev.
- LÖVE 2D export comes alive. Buttons react to the mouse and call your own handlers, and text fields accept typing.
- React, Vue, Svelte and Roblox (Luau / .rbxmx) exports are still there.
The editor itself
- Light theme for the editor (toggle in the status bar).
- A livelier "thinking" view: steps with timings, a glowing border and a shimmering placeholder on the canvas where the block will appear.
- Under the hood: the editor is split into smaller modules, with unit tests and browser tests that run before every deploy.
We tested every free AI model
I sent the editor's real instructions to every free text model on Groq and OpenRouter: build a coffee-shop landing page and answer a short CSS question. Short version:
- Qwen 3.8 27B (Groq): best design by far, but about one page a minute on the free plan.
- Nemotron 3 Ultra 550B (OpenRouter): polished and reliable, around 40 seconds per page.
- GPT-OSS 120B (Groq): a full page in about 2 seconds and never broke the format. This is what the free built-in AI uses first.
Full table, timings and screenshots of every result: openconstructor.pw/ai-models. The grades are mine and based on one run each, so read it as a field report rather than a benchmark.
What's next
Custom domains for published pages are built and being switched on. After that: more game-UI tools and better multi-page sites.
Feedback is very welcome, especially on the exports. If you have a favourite free model for UI work that I missed, tell me in the comments and I'll add it to the next round.
