My New Journey Starts Today

Yesterday, I quit my job. I was a web developer working with Laravel, building websites and APIs.

From today, I’m diving into Rust and Python. I’m a total beginner, but I’m eager to learn.

I’ve also decided to improve my English. I want to connect with people here, share my progress, and learn from you all.

Thanks for reading my first post! I’d love any tips for a newbie starting Rust, Python, or English.

While improving your English skills, I would like to recommend starting to watch some TV shows with subtitles. The best option to start with is Friends. The language is easy, and the way characters speak is easy to understand.

Now I’m watching “Love is Blind” on Netflix.
I wasn’t interested in reality shows before,
but I’ve realized that they’re a great way to learn about people and English.
Thank you for your advice! I’ll watch “Friends” later!

I would start with Python as it is closer to PHP. Apart from the indents learn how Python differs from PHP.
Rust is a massive step up, so don't be discouraged at first.

Thank you for the advice!!
I’ll start with Python!
Rust seems a very tough.
But ownership is a very interesting concept.
I’ll take it slow.

My experience with Rust, is that is a language where you have to be aware of all the options that exist For example there are two string types.
While it is good you want to learn it, it feels hard to master. Especially if you want to know multiple languages.

An alternative is Go. One of the main selling points of the language is the simplicity.

Thank you!!
Go sounds very attractive—I love the Gopher character!
But I’ve already bought Programming Rust (O’Reilly), so I’ll start with that.
If I find it too hard, I’ll switch to Go.
It’s so kind of you to give me all this advice.
I’m so happy to start in the DEV Community with such nice advice ^^
