Apple HomeView Is Here: $299 Siri AI Hub (Ships Nov 13)

Apple finally put a screen on its smart home strategy. At the October 13 "Welcome Home" event, the company unveiled Apple HomeView — a 7-inch smart-home hub built around the entirely new Siri AI — plus a refreshed HomePod mini and Apple TV 4K, and a nine-device Apple Home Collection built with LG and Schneider Electric.

What it is

HomeView is a 7-inch Liquid Retina touchscreen (A18 chip, True Tone, 500 nits down to 0.3 nits for nightstand duty) that recognizes up to six household members by face, giving each their own home screen, apps, and widgets. Personal content like Messages and Calendar only appears when the enrolled user is recognized and their recently-unlocked iPhone or iPad is nearby. It supports Matter and Thread, runs a Home Camera face that can livestream up to nine video feeds at once, and detects smoke/CO alarm sounds.

Two versions, same price: the tabletop model with a domed speaker base ($299) and the wall-mounted model ($299) — but the wall version needs a separate Schneider Home mount ($59.95–$129.95), so the real wall-setup cost starts around $359.

The lineup around it

  • HomePod mini 2 — $149, ships October 30. S10 chip, "Sound Glow" top, pairs four units for surround with the new Apple TV. Catch: Siri AI arrives via a future software update — on day one you're buying better hardware with the old Siri.
  • Apple TV 4K (4th gen) — $299, ships November 13. A19 chip, built-in far-field microphones so you can talk to Siri without the remote, redesigned Siri Remote with Find My.
  • Apple Home Collection — $39.95 to $399.95, launching December. Nine co-built devices: cameras, a video doorbell, a smart lock, thermostats, and sensors. Every device needs a home hub, pairs with a single iPhone tap, and stores footage via HomeKit Secure Video — no separate camera-maker subscription. Cameras sell in the US, Canada, and UK; the rest is US/Canada only.

The honest caveats

  • Not available in the EU. Apple says Siri AI is currently unavailable in iOS in the EU, and there's no timeline for resolving the DMA dispute.
  • No full App Store. Limited Apple apps plus CarPlay-style support for third-party audio/video apps — that's it.
  • No independent Siri AI testing yet. Apple's claims ("profoundly more capable and conversational") are unverified on shipping hardware; real-world testing will take weeks.
  • The HomePod mini 2 and the wall-mount pricing are the two places Apple's marketing gets slippery — read the fine print before pre-ordering.
